An Update from JCF’s Executive Director, Jennifer Hamilton

We have had a busy start to the year!

In addition to awarding over $70,000 in grants to date, JCF has served the most vulnerable with a meal at the Helen Wright Center and in the cafe at A Place At The Table. We have cheered on Ship Community Outreach at their recent ceiling-busting gala and we are excited to be a part of Families Together's upcoming Family Fun Day and Graduation at the Marbles Museum. Our board has intentionally pursued our value of "self-work" at our recent board retreat. It will continue to evaluate the quality of how we live out our values in the community.

Our most recent partnership is with the Cause Collaborative, where JCF assists in facilitating conversations among nonprofits and community leaders around how we can effectively collaborate to bring stability to the lives of the unhoused.

The work won't stop, because our community needs us, and we will continue to show up with longevity and open-mindedness. Thank you for your valuable and generous support as we continue to make an impact in the lives of the unhoused.

JCF Updates

Partner Help Needed: Duke PTCT

Support our friends at Duke Hospital’s Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program (PTCT) through their "Care for the Caregiver" Amazon Wishlist.

JCF is purchasing $250 worth of items from their list. Last year's support from JCF helped sustain them for the ENTIRE year, and we need to come through for them again this year! If you can only give a little, please note the high-priority items that are almost out!

Update: 3rd Annual Golf Tournament

Thanks to your support, at our event we raised $29,149.90 to support JCF's mission of partnering with nonprofits to tangibly impact the unhoused. Each and every year our event's impact grows and we are so proud this year to have raised $6,600 more than last. It was such a fantastic day and every dollar will make an impact in our community.

JCF Board Retreat: Self-Work

JCF's board recently gathered for our annual Board of Directors' retreat, where we were able to reflect, recalibrate, and recharge! These conversations, and the knowledge we gain from them, will lead us to a deeper understanding of the value of "equity" and equip us to be intentional in our relationships.

Thank you to Ashley Gaddy Enterprises for facilitating.

Partner Events

Ship Community Outreach: Stand in the Gap Gala

The partnership between Ship Outreach and JCF is truly a gift, and the difference they are making in our city is incalculable and far-reaching. During the event, Jimmy Carroll was acknowledged by Raleigh’s Mayor Cowell, as well as Ship's Pastor Chris Jones and Anissa Rachelle, who have worked continuously to keep Jimmy's legacy alive and make an impact in his name in our community.

Leadership Triangle & Activate Good: Cause Collaborative

JCF was honored to be a part of Leadership Triangle's Cause Collaborative initiative. A joint effort by Leadership Triangle and Activate Good, this event brings together community leaders to address regional challenges through collaboration. The first collaborative focused on affordable housing, with more than 35 leaders from Durham, Orange, and Wake Counties involved. With a mission to impact the unhoused in Wake County, JCF was very happy to be included in this important discussion!

Duke PTCT: Mother’s Day

It's become a Mother's Day tradition at JCF to bring lunch to the caregivers at Duke University Hospital PTCT every year...and we always leave appreciating these amazing caregivers and all the love they are spreading throughout the world!

The Green Chair Project's Sweeter Dreams Program

JCF is proud to support The Green Chair Project's Sweeter Dreams Program, which is on a mission to provide new beds for Wake County children who do not currently have a bed of their own. As the sole provider of new beds and cribs, and the only organization operating as a furniture bank in Wake County, the Green Chair Project fills a unique and critical role in the community which completely aligns with JCF's mission to impact the unhoused in our community through demonstrations of love and justice.

A Place at the Table: Friend to Breakfast at the Cafe

JCF will be attending A Place at the Table's upcoming donor appreciation event, where we will learn more about the state of A Place at the Table and how we can continue to partner with this fantastic organization. Join one of the upcoming events on June 10th, July 17th (JCF will be there!), or September 12th - learn more and register here.

JCF Values & Priorities

May was Mental Health Awareness Month

People aren’t unhoused because they want to be.

Many systemic factors play into the lack of access and opportunity, and the stigma around mental health is just one of them. JCF remains focused on serving unhoused populations by fighting for the right to proper mental health support for all.

Successful people define their success by how they help others succeed. JCF works in our community to bring love and justice to those who need it. That's our measure of success.
